Word Wednesday #18

"Great peace have they which love Thy law:
and nothing shall offend them."
(Psalm 119:165)

When we love God's Word, we will not be offended. However, because we love God's Word, we will be grieved at those who do not follow it ("I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not Thy Word." Psalm 119:158) and zealous when It is forgotten ("My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten Thy Words." Psalm 119:139)

Whew, I'm back again on Word Wednesdays, and I enjoyed catching up on your other blog posts. Just to make a quick comment about your "writing" post, #1 I have been very blessed to read the articles etc. that you've written and am thankful that the Lord has given you this talent, and shown the steps necessary to develop it (or at least put it in proper order). Secondly, I guess it's a good thing we didn't meet each other when we were 13 or so because obviously we wouldn't have had much to talk about. :-D As I think I've mentioned before, I'm not much of a writer, and certainly don't just get the "urge" to write. I'm thankful the Lord brought us to know each other when He knew we would find common ground in MANY different areas and could be a an encouragement to each other.

Now for the verses:
Psalm 84:5-7
"Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.
Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.
They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God."

This is an amazing passage to me.
When we are dwelling in Christ and our daily strength comes from Him, even when we go through dark days and difficult times, we will still be refreshed in our spiritual life and 'strength to strength' seems to be the same as the verse in the New Testament "...We are MORE than conquerors through Him that loved us." Rom. 8:37b

Thanks for your continued encouragement, Amanda.

Blessed Beyond Measure,
Janell

Hi Janell!

And I'm glad to see you here again! ;)

Writing - Boy, it probably was a good thing we didn't meet at thirteen. Wow; never thought of that before! :) Though I am so blessed by my writer-friends, I am also blessed by my non-writer friends. When Christ is the common ground, any friendship is a blessing! How thankful I am that the Lord has grown me through that! And praise the Lord for the blessing and encouragement of my articles - I can safely say that He is the One Who has guided me in writing them. And if they're a flop, well, there's too much "I" in there. :)

Verses - That is a beautiful Psalm (everyone shares a lot from the Psalms :) Of course, I'm guilty too ;)) What a wonderful thought that fully trusting in God for any strength WILL be blessed! And your thoughts are great too - I don't know that I would have seen that in the passage. Thanks for sharing!

By God's grace,
Amanda

"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;" (Titus 2:11-12)

Thank you for sharing this verse, Amanda! This is one Jesus has used to speak to me in so many ways and it's amazing all the occasions He has brought this little verse to my attention. And thank you for sharing, Janell; it's great to have you back for Word Wednesdays!

" I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me." ~ Psalm 101:2-3

For the last few weeks, Psalm 101 is a passage the Lord has been drawing me to again and again. It's amazing and sobering to note the psalmist commitment to holiness and purity in the most private areas of his life. The last part of verse 2 and then all of verse 3 especially stand out to me and I'm not sure you can have one without the other. The condition of our hearts are heavily influenced by what we allow our eyes to see and this in turn makes or breaks our resolve to hate ANY wicked words, attitudes or actions that threaten to cleave to our hearts and minds.

Hi Kenzi!

I completely agree that it's amazing how often God brings this verse to mind is SO many different situations! That's the beauty of God's Word - it is so applicable to daily living!

Psalm 101 is one of those amazing Psalms that is so beautiful, convicting, encouraging, and humbling at the same time! It is a great one to memorize! We need these verses as daily reminders! Great point about "the condition of our hearts."

Thanks for sharing!
Amanda
