Word Wednesday #66

"But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine." Isaiah 43:1

Spoken to Israel, this is a truth every person must embrace by faith. Do you believe that there is only one God? that there is no Savior but the Lord Jesus Christ?

"I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins." (Isaiah 43:25)

"Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any." (Isaiah 44:8)

"I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else." (Isaiah 45:5-6)

"Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." (Isaiah 45:21-22)

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me," (Isaiah 46:9)

Enjoyed reading through all these verses from Isaiah!! And since that is where I happen to be reading right now, that's where my verse for today comes from. :)

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength...Lord, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us."
~ Isaiah 26:3-4 & 12

Peace is ordained for those who:
Keep their mind stayed on God
Trust in the Lord
Draw from His strength
Know it is He Who has "wrought all our works in us"

Whew, I've missed a couple weeks, and I'm late on this one, but wanted to share a verse from my devotions today.

Titus 3:8
"This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men."

I love this verse for two reasons. First it's very clear that salvation comes first, and then good works follow, and second I love it because it's a great reminder for WHY we are to maintain good works. Because our God is worthy, and we are representatives of Him!

This has been on my mind a lot lately. :-)

@ Kenzi -- a verse that is VERY well memorized as I have needed the reminder so many times! I like how you "broke it down" there!

@ Janell -- Amen! I remember the first time I "saw" that verse. The whole latter part of Titus 3 very much encourages service!
