Five Clean, Christian Romance Books | Five Fall Favorites Day 2

Welcome back to day two of Five Fall Favorites! Remember to hop by Rebekah's blog for links to the other fun rooms in this party--and remember to keep your eye out for the book room, cause there's something good there for you. ;)

Today I'm the backpack room!

I'm definitely a book packer and always bring at least two books with me anywhere I go--plus... my Kindle. You know, just in case an emergency strikes and I need more than one book to read. ;)

Five clean, Christian romance books... I'm definitely a huge component of CLEAN romance. There have been several books that I've shut because the romance wasn't clean enough for me. So I'm really looking forward to seeing what the other bloggers have for this topic.

Love Comes Softly by Janette Oke

One almost can't think Christian romance without thinking Janette Oke. And I've never had to put one of her books down because it's taken me "into a bedroom scene." She is clean. Very clean. And usually very Christian. I haven't read this one since I started writing reviews, so I don't have one (need to read it again, I suppose ;) ), but you can still read it for yourself. ;)

A Home for my Heart by Anne Mateer

This one was one of those adorably sweet books. From what I remember, there were absolutely no uncomfortable romance scenes whatsoever. Actually, it didn't strike me as primarily a romance... guess you'll have to read it and figure out your thoughts. ;)

This book! <3 I liked it very much! Of course, I've gotten to where I tend to like all of the Kim Vogel Sawyer books that I've read... ;) But this one especially. If you've not read Kim Vogel Sawyer, it's a good one to start with!

Of course, a Roseanna White has to go on this list! Some of hers, I feel, are a little cleaner than others because in books (like The Reluctant Duchess) deal with situations that are for more mature readers. But this one. I really liked this one! :)

It's been over a year since I read this, and I haven't read other of Sundin's books (my sister says that some of them have more detail than others), but overall, I remember really liking this one and finding it clean (a few references were made to past events, which you'll see in my review)

  2. I want to get "Anchor in the Storm" from our library and read it. And yes, clean romance books are what we need more of! Thanks for sharing this list. I may have to check into more of them soon. *To read list, why must you grow so quickly?*

  4. I’ve read “Anchor in the Storm” before. “Love Comes Softly” and “Grace and the Preacher” are two books I really want to read! :)

  5. Your recommendations make me want to read them so much! I've read the whole Love Comes Softly series, but your glowing review of "Grace and the Preacher" put that on my TBR list quickly. ;) And everybody seemed to love "A Name Unknown", and I can't imagine that I wouldn't enjoy reading that. I have also read many good things about Sarah Sundin's books, especially the Waves of Freedom series.

  9. I have Sarah Sundin ‘s book and I read Love Comes Softly a long time ago. Finished A Name Unknown a few weeks ago. I love Roseanna! Just finished An Inconvenient Beauty by Kristi Ann Hunter which is clean. Carrie Fancett Pagels has a good one about Mackinac Island.

  11. This contest has too many hard things to do in it! Too hard to keep track of. Can’t jump back and forth easily. Do you mean add to a goodreads TBR list or just your own?

    2. Pollyanna by Eleanor H. Porter.

  15. I haven't read any of these books! I don't usually pick out books that are in the specific 'romance' genre. Though most books do have some in it. My favorite clean romance--maybe Westward Ho! by Charles Kingsley. The book wasn't focused on romance, but it did have a little bit in it that was sweet and very clean.

  16. I now have five more books on my to-read list! Well, some of them were already one there, and I've already read (and loved) Anchor in the Storm, but ... I either really want to read or love all those books! :P

  17. @ Faith – those are great ones to have there. ;) Just don’t keep them in TBR too long. ;)

@ Rebekah – I haven’t read others of Sarah Sundin, but that one I liked. Oh yeah… *rolls eyes at TBR list*

@ Sarah – Anne Mateer is great!

@ RebekahAshleigh – I hope you can get your hands on them soon!

@ CutePolarBear – aw, I’m glad! “Grace and the Preacher” is a family favorite! I have enjoyed all of Roseanna White’s books. :)

@ Kate – you should SO try Kim Vogel Sawyer! She’s kind of like the “new” Janette Oke. Strong Christian faith… yet her writing is more modern (Janette Oke is definitely more classic).

@ Ryana – I’ve heard of those books. I think my oldest sister read them. I’ve read the Castleberry’s farm mystery series. :)

@ Bethany – covers are some of my favorite things!

@ Paula – Yes!! Roseanna White is probably one of my top favorite authors right now. And I’ve read two of Kristi Ann Hunter’s books. I’ve heard her latest isn’t quite as clean as her others, though.

    @ Victoria – yay!

@ Paula – sorry for not replying sooner, but adding to any TBR list is fine!

@ Olivia – oh yes, that is true!!

@ Crystal – I really want to read “Return to the Canadian West!”

    @ Katja – nice list!

@ Jewels – yeah…not sure how many of these are “romance” or just have romance in them. I prefer books where the main plot is NOT romance.

    @ Kellyn – sweet!
