Word Wednesday #36

"And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given." (Mark 4:24)

We have a responsibility to apply what we hear. The more we apply, the more we'll be taught.

"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." (James 1:22)

I always enjoy your Word Wednesdays.:) They are always such an encouragement to me.

I tried to link the button on the bottom of my post but it got really small and tight looking. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for sharing, Amanda! We recently studied James 1:22 as a family, so it was a good reminder. :)

"The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe." ~ Proverbs 29:25

I heard this verse used in a sermon this week and since then the Lord has brought to mind how many ways we can be ensnared by fearing men (just try making a list and watch it grow). Yet when we rest in the trust of the Lord, we find the bondage of our fears (real and imaginary) broken.

@ Salinn,

Praise the Lord! :)

Hmm . . . honestly HTML stumps me still and being that it's a banner and not a square photo could be giving you some trouble. I know that when you paste it in a blog post (as HTMl format), you can then go into regular format and select for the picture to be "original size" and that usually helps. Not sure if that was helpful or not . . . :/

What is your blog? I'd love to visit it!

@ Kenzi,

James 1:22 is ALWAYS a good reminder! If only it was as easy to apply as it is to memorize!

A friend just recently shared Proverbs 29:25 with me. :) Amen! A list would grow large quickly! It's sobering how many things in daily living are altered by our fear of man. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Amanda,
Though this is a verse I know that you are VERY familiar with, it's the one the Lord has brought to my heart and mind over and over today. When I was thinking about what I would share for Word Wednesday, this was the first verse that came to mind, but I thought
"Oh, Amanda, already quotes this verse all the time, etc. etc." Well, then in church tonight Bro. Miller preached a phenomenal message on "Enjoying God's Guidance", and guess what his first Scripture reference was...
Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."
So this is the lesson and verse the Lord is trying to teach me (yet again). Once again thanks for these encouraging verses every week, as well as everyone else who has shared.

@ Janell,

Thanks for the reminder! Even those verses that we "know so well" need to be refreshed for someone as pigheaded as I. Amazingly, as every new year starts and every big season of life begins, Proverbs 3:5-7 comes to surface again. I am so thankful for amazing verses like that which assure us God's faithfulness in guiding us!
