Word Wednesday #49

"And when He saw them, He said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed." Luke 17:14

When they obeyed, they were in the same state as before. However, while they were obeying, Jesus cleansed. So often we want to see change before we move. But maybe God is asking us to obey so He can change us.

  1. Wow! How very true that we often want results before obedience. Thanks for sharing this, Amanda!

"Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer."
    ~ 1 Chronicles 14:14-16

This story has been rolling around in my thoughts all week. Though David was fighting a physical war against the Philistines, his true battle was not against flesh and blood. At God's command, he waited for the sound of the army of the Lord going before him to smite his enemies. If this was true for David as a national leader, how much more so for us who are fighting as soldiers for Christ!

  2. @ Kenzi,

Ah, I love this passage! One thing that stands out is that God's plan for battle wasn't always the same. And when we follow His battle-plan, He gets the victory! :)

But what encouragement it does give for the believer! :)
