Word Wednesday #34

". . . in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction." (2 Peter 3:16)

Those who wrestle with one part of Scripture will wrestle with other parts. Either we must accept all of Scripture . . . or reject all of it. Where do we stand?

Thanks for sharing, Amanda! This passage is always a sobering reminder; how much sweeter to trust than wrestle!

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him."
~ portions of John 1

Perhaps not your traditional "Christmas" passage, but I can't think of any words that more beautifully describe the purpose of why God's Son was sent to be born of a woman. What more awesome wonder than the Word becoming flesh and dwelling among us!!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

Traditional or not, I love John 1 and the truth that God is our Light and the Word! Thanks for sharing with us, Kenzi! And merry (late) Christmas to you too!

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures." (James 1:17-18)
