Word Wednesday #30

"But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you." 1 Peter 5:10

The grace of God gives us His sufficiency to grow up in Him for His glory.

Thanks for sharing, Amanda! I love how this verse tells of settling us (rooting us, grounding us)in Christ. And how interesting to note that it takes place after a season of suffering...

" And the elders of the congregation shall lay their hands upon the head of the bullock before the Lord: and the bullock shall be killed before the Lord.
And the priest that is anointed shall bring of the bullock's blood to the tabernacle of the congregation:
And the priest shall dip his finger in some of the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before the Lord, even before the vail...
And he shall carry forth the bullock without the camp, and burn him as he burned the first bullock: it is a sin offering for the congregation."
~ Leviticus 4:15-17 & 21

" For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach." ~ Hebrews 13:11-13

Not only is Jesus the Eternal High Priest that ever lives to interceded for us, but He is also the sin offering that provides atonement for our iniquity. Again, another symbol of the Mosaic law foretelling the sacrifice of Christ. The sin offering was the only sacrifice where the priest had to burn the remains outside the camp, because it was a reproachful sacrifice that bore the trespass of the sinner. So Jesus also suffered outside the gates of Jerusalem because He was willing to bear the vile reproach of being our sin offering. The holy, blameless Son of God became the most despised of sacrifices, so we could be sanctified by His blood!

Kenzi,

Thanks again for sharing! I'm loving the correlation between the Old Testament laws and Hebrews. I can imagine how much fun it must be for you to piece them together with God's direction. :)

This morning, I read Isaiah 53 and thought it was a very good chapter to read Thanksgiving week!

Thanks for sharing!
