Word Wednesday #21

"Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person,
neither let me give flattering titles unto man.
For I know not to give flattering titles;
in so doing my maker would soon take me away."
(Job 32:21-22)

Elihu was willing to speak the truth plainly, omitting any flattery that may have gained man's favor. Am I willing to do the same? Or am I so keen on keeping myself in "good standing" with others that I hide truth behind flattering speeches?

  1. Thanks for sharing, Amanda! :)
May the Lord guard our lips from giving flattering titles unto man, so we may fear the Lord only!

"I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing." Psalm 34:1-10

Most likely I've shared this psalm before, but it's words were what I woke up with today. Who can measure the goodness of God? To think of His blessings in my life overwhelm me! He has delivered me from ALL my fears. Each time I or my family was in danger, He protected us under His wing. He has provided all our needs and we've not wanted in any good thing. Each time I've sought Him, He has heard me. I've tasted and seen that the Lord is so very good: blessed IS the man that trusteth in Him!!!

  3. Wonderful verses from both Amanda and Kenzi! Thanks so much. This Word Wednesday has been such a blessing to me, and has also kept me accountable to "be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:". Even though obviously I know y'all are believers, it's still wonderful for us to share what the Lord has and is doing for us.

    Without further ado:
    Psalm 40:3,4,5,8,11, and 16
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

There is so much here that I just love. The goodness of the Lord to us, the wonderful peace and joy that comes from following God and doing His will, and through all this praising Him for WHO He is as well as for what He has done.
    Amazing!!!

    Love you!

  4. Word Wednesdays have also blessed me immensely! I had no clue how much of a blessing they would be when the Lord laid the idea on my heart!!!

I love the verses that remind us of the "new song" that God has given us (for obvious reasons :)). Thanks for sharing your thoughts; Amen.

Love you too! Thanks for sharing!

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)
