Word Wednesday #16

"I have not departed from Thy judgments:
for Thou hast taught me."
(Psalm 119:102)

When it is God Who has taught me directly from His Word, I am more sensitive to keep it than if "it was 'only' the preacher who said that."

  1. Thanks for this verse from Psalm 119, Amanda! And how true it is that we tend to be more tender to the Holy Spirit's voice instead of man's.

    " But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
    Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
    For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
    How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" ~ Hebrews 9:11-15

    Jesus became the High Priest who offered not the blood of goats and calves, but His own blood as the perfect sin sacrifice. What always stands out to me is that one of the reasons Jesus did this was to "purge [our]conscience from dead works..." Jesus came not only to set us free from sin's power, but also from our dead works: that unyielding law that tells our hearts that God has a standard of righteousness and drives us to seek to earn His salvation. But by Jesus blood, we are made worthy before God. By Jesus blood we are purified from sin, and by Jesus' blood our conscience are purged from the necessity of dead works and can enter freely into Christ's rest.

  2. @Kenzi,

    Thanks for sharing some verses. This past Sunday, our pastor highlighted the Blood of Jesus Christ for Sunday School. It is a subject that I honestly didn't think about very often, but wow!!! How grateful I am that it is by Jesus's blood that we are able to come before the Holy of Holies! Praise Jesus Christ for the power of His blood!
