Happy Friday again!! Yesterday, I worked on the first stages of moving into a new bedroom. For the first time, I was able to pull out all of the books I've acquired the past three years and have them all in one place! Yeah...I counted up to 350 books (oh wait...I did forget about those that I was lending to friends).
Which are now, mostly, temporarily shelved. My daddy built me a bookcase (these are closet shelves here) and once the glue dries, the books are in their new home! :)
I pulled together the books I've not yet read... *insert scared emoji*
Approximately 130 books! :/ I could read solid a month and not catch up! This pile just may take me years. Have you read any of these books?
And then I counted up the most books from one author... Janette Oke wins!
Last but not least, I had a little fun with my current book infatuations: Civil War and medieval.
Okay, okay, so FIRST LINE FRIDAY! Yeah, took me long enough! ;P I'll be honest, perusing through all of those books, I didn't stop long enough to find a first line. So I thought I'd change the rules. *gasp* ;) Today, you can choose the first line. See any of my books that you'd like to know the first line for? Just comment and I'll try my hardest to reply this weekend! I have a graduation I'm pianist at so my time isn't all free.

I love your book collection. In your not read book pile, Horseback Riding for Dummies looks interesting. I'm sure you have a story to go with why you have that book. I have to say I used to own all of Janette Oak's books, I lost them and hundreds of other books to a broken water pipe and the idiot clean up crew that came. They tossed 3 overly filled bookcases out in the snow instead of saving the books that did not get wet.

ReplyDeleteMy first line is from TURTLES IN THE ROAD, a humorous romance from mother/daughter duo Rhonda Rhea and Kaley Rhea. The book arrived yesterday, and I didn't get to crack it open until 1:00 AM...but I just HAD to start it before bed! The first chapter is hilarious...and Piper is my new BF! -- "Normally a nice long solo drive had a calming effect on Piper."
Awesome book collection! Janette Oke was one of my favorite authors growing up...you have to check out the Love Comes Softly film series on the Hallmark channel. :) As far as first lines go, Medieval Warrior sounds interesting.

@ Andrea - Horseback Riding...yes. :) I'm a writer, so anything that crosses anything I am writing about, I grab. This one was a quarter at a thrift store. And though I've ridden horses, it's not enough to where I'm positive I can accurately describe it. So, hence the book. :) Research. ;) That is so sad about your destroyed books. :/ Thanks for sharing your FL!

@ English Mysteries - it's been at least two years since I've read Oke. Part of me is a little "scared" to because I've learned so much about writing since then. I want to still love them. ;) I've seen most of the Hallmark movies. The books are better (of course), but I do enjoy the movies too. :) See above for the quote from the medieval warrior book.

Hi! I just went through all my books to reorganize them, though they're still in totes. It's fun, isn't it? It makes me almost feel like I've just read them again. =) On your haven't read stack, I've read "In My Father's House" (really good further insight into the person Corrie ten Boom was), Big Red (I think I remember that in the stack. One of my favorite dog books growing up. Couple of swear words, but the relationship between Ross and Danny is pretty good =), and The Witch of Blackbird Pond (writing style for that I'd like to study--I haven't read it for years, but I still have some scenes clearly in my mind!).
