Word Wednesday #58

"I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted." Revelations 2:2-3


God is not unrighteous to forget our work and labor of love shown to His Name (Hebrews 6:10). The letters to the seven churches repeats, "I know thy works." Jesus sees our every work - both righteous and unrighteous. He is watching us closely. He knows.

    I'm thankful that God is a faithful and just judge of our works.

    On a flip side, the verse I want to share today are an encouraging reminder that our salvation is not dependent on our works.

    Romans 3:28 "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law."
    Romans 4:4-8 "Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
    But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
    Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
    Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
    Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin."

    Sometimes it's just wonderful to be reminded of the difference between justification and sanctification. We are justified only by faith in Jesus blood, but sanctification is the process of becoming more like Christ, and our motivation for holiness is to be a desire to give glory to God, that His name may be glorified, and that others may be drawn to Christ through our "conversation" (manner of living)!
