Word Wednesday #54

"And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem." Micah 4:2

This is the attitude we should embrace when going to church: we make the effort to go, expecting to be taught of God's ways, willing to walk as we have been taught.

  1. Very true...and what a blessing to think God promises that He WILL teach us His ways when we are willing to walk as we have been taught. Thanks for sharing, Amanda!

    " For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe."
    ~ 1 Thessalonians 2:13

    I may have shared this verse before, but the Lord has brought it to mind so much lately. So often we become discouraged by the shortcomings (and even sins) in our lives and forget what power God has promised to "you that believe." When we receive that precious word of truth, it works a mighty power in our hearts and washes and cleanses us to be a pure and spotless bride for Christ. What a wonderful Savior we serve Who is ready to deploy that truth to work in us at anytime!

  3. Hey Amanda,
    I like the connection I see between your verse and my verse.

    Acts 26:16-18
    But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
    Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
    To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

    Your verse was a prophecy of the Gentiles coming to know the LORD, and my verse is kind of a fulfillment of that prophecy. God sent Paul to be the missionary to the Gentiles. There is so much in these verses to think about, I can't even put it all down, but another thought that came to me here is that Christ has called me to be a witness of the things He has done in my life, both my salvation and the subsequent working of the Holy Spirit in maturing me to be more like Christ.

  4. @ Janell,

    How neat! I love the part, "I have appeared unto thee for this purpose." God has a purpose for each of us - and has bestowed upon us His grace to fulfill that purpose.

    Thanks!
    Amanda
