  1. Thanks for sharing, Amanda! This verse reminded me of Matthew 11:25:
"At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes."

"But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the Lord, are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites wait upon their business...And, behold, God himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the Lord God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.
But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them.
And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind: and they cried unto the Lord, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.
Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah...Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the Lord God of their fathers."
    ~ 2 Chronicles 13:10, 12-15 & 18

The speech King Abijah made before King Jeroboam revealed his faith in God's ability to deliver an army over twice the size of his into the hands of the men of Judah. Even after this declaration of faith, God still tested Judah by allowing the army of Israel to enclose them from the front and behind. In that moment Judah had the choice to surrender and flee or cry out to the Lord. They prayed and God gave them a might victory "because they relied upon the Lord God of their fathers."

  2. @ Kenzi,

Love that passage in 2 Chronicles about the different battles needing a different battle-plan. I love how God has these real-life stories for us to remind us of lessons we need in our spiritual walk!
