"And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD." (Ezekiel 14:23)
God never moves without purpose or plan but wisely works for His pure and perfect cause.
Thanks for sharing, Amanda! As this verse says what a comfort it is to know God does all things according to His cause!
ReplyDelete"Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price...
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" ~ 1 Peter 3:3-4 & 15
It seems like God has been speaking to me a lot about meekness. Whether in my Bible reading, conversations with family and friends, or experiences in every day life, this fruit of the Spirit keeps popping up. Little wonder as I have so much to learn about having a "meek and quiet spirit". As these verses show meekness is priceless in the sight of God and invaluable in our relationships with others. Is it any wonder we as woman are commanded to adorn this ornament of great price?

Did you realize you quoted the song "Rejoice in the Lord" by Ron Hamilton?!?!?!? :) :)
ReplyDeleteHey Amanda,
ReplyDeleteThis passage from my morning devotions stood out to me.
Luke 11:9-13
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
We have to make sure we don't misapply the first verse, by thinking it's another one of those verse that supposedly says "God will give you whatever you want". If you read through the rest of the passage you realize that it is specifically talking about praying for the presence and leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives. When this is the case, then I believe the rest of our prayers will become what they should.
@ Kenzi,
ReplyDeleteHmm . . . I think I've entered some of those "meekness" discussions. ;) There is indeed SO much to learn in that issue! And obviously, we women have a difficult time with it, as it's mentioned specifically for us several times in Scripture!
Thanks for the verses from 1 Peter! They're good to review often!

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
(James 3:17)
@ Katie,
ReplyDeleteYes, I did realize it - though it wasn't intentional. :) Great song, though! :)

Rejoice evermore.
(1 Thessalonians 5:16)
@ Janell,
ReplyDeleteLuke 11:13 is a verse that Bro. Thomas quotes all of the time - and what a good reminder it is! There is so much beauty in that verse: God gives the Holy Spirit to any who call upon Him - for salvation; and then He gives more of His Spirit to those of His children who call upon Him.
Thanks for sharing!

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
