thee:
for Thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek Thee."

"The works of the Lord are great,
sought out of all
them that have pleasure therein."

I've been reading in I Peter the past couple days, and the verse that stood out to me today was
ReplyDeleteI Peter 3:18 " For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:"
Of course this is a wonderful "salvation verse" that tells what Christ did on the cross for us, but the thing that sticks out to me is the last part of that verse "being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit". This is such a wonderful picture and example of what He works in us as well when we surrender ourselves to Him. By His grace, we die daily to the flesh, that He may quicken us, that is make us alive or sensitive, to the working of His Holy Spirit.
Thanks for the verses you shared this morning. That last verse is especially wonderful and meaningful. The works of the Lord are wonderful and easily found and beheld by those that have spiritual eyes and the desire to search for them and see them.
Love you, my friend!
Thanks so much for sharing, Janell! 1 Peter is an amazing book . . . I think it's going to be one of the next books that I read through. :)
ReplyDeleteA very good reminder; I love the verses that contrast the flesh and Spirit (I did a whole study on it once). By God's grace we can be quickened by His Spirit - amen!

"For by one offering, He hath perfected forever them that are sanctified." Hebrews 10:14
This is the song in my heart today:
ReplyDeleteOh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together!
I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces were not ashamed.
This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints!
There is no want to those who fear Him.
The young lions lack and suffer hunger;
But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their cry.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
(Psalm 34:2-10,15,19)
Hey Becky!
ReplyDeleteAmen! Thanks for sharing! I love the Psalms!

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding." Proverbs 3:5
Thanks for sharing, Amanda! Psalm 9:10 was love at first sight for me - verses/passages about trusting in the Lord are so precious to me!! This was one I've not noticed before and I'm grateful to have it now!
ReplyDelete" My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah." ~ Psalm 62:5-8
There is so much I could share about this passage, but I'll focus on the first verse for today. :) This psalm is a beautiful call to make God our ONLY Rock of refuge. Verse 5 is one Jesus reminds me of often. How many times throughout the day do our expectations rise and fall? We hope and plan, but if we wait ONLY on the Lord and our expectation is rooted in His promises, then we "shall not be moved." It is a daily reminder for me to say, "Lord, let my expectations be from You and You only."

And thank you for sharing as well, Kenzi! Psalm 62:5-8 is another favorite of mine. ;) Amen.
ReplyDeleteI like the reminder of the last verse: for us to POUR out our hearts before God. God is so good to listen to our prayers! Indeed, we can fully trust in Him.
